Start-ups

The Trade Marks Registry was established in India in 1940 and presently it administers the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the rules thereunder. It acts as a resource and information centre and is a facilitator in matters relating to trade marks in the country.

IEC is a 10-digit unique identification number issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is mandatory for any business or individual involved in importing or exporting goods and services from India. It is valid for a lifetime—no renewal is required.

The Start-Up India initiative is a flagship program launched by the Government of India on January 16, 2016, with the aim of fostering innovation, supporting entrepreneurship, and building a robust start-up ecosystem across the country. Spearheaded by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the initiative provides aspiring entrepreneurs with a platform to access funding, mentorship etc.
